China and Sierra Leone Strengthen Cooperation by Signing Bilateral Agreements

On February 28, 2024, China's National Development and Reform Commission signed multiple cooperation documents with relevant departments of Sierra Leone. Those documents involve jointly developing the Belt and Road initiative and promoting cooperation in economic development.
Both parties agreed to deepen cooperation in jointly developing the Belt and Road initiative, and signed the Cooperation Plan between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of Sierra Leone for Jointly Promoting the Belt and Road Construction. Both parties also agreed to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in economic development and signed a memorandum of understanding on economic development exchanges and cooperation. Both parties aim to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation in key areas such as policy coordination, infrastructure connectivity, trade facilitation, financial integration, and cultural exchange to enhance the well-being of people on both sides.
Through enhanced dialogue and coordination on macroeconomic policies, China and Sierra Leone aim to deepen their understanding of each other's economic conditions and development needs. The execution of these bilateral agreements will create wider market opportunities for businesses in both countries, fostering mutual growth and prosperity.
